Candle light December 1, 2008 C. white (Derby) 32 out of 35 found this review helpful
I brought the sun jar because when i work nights my girlfriend likes a light on so i thought we could try this to save on electricity and still give her the comfort from the light! When it arrived we was very happy with the quality of the light, its a nice jar and would look good on any window ledge! Like the other reviewers have said its waterproof with a good seal so can be left outside if you wish.
It automatically comes on when it gets dark unless you switch it off (switch is under the lid) and it gives out a nice glow which is romantic and like a candle light but its not enough light for you to be able to read!
The cheapest i found this was £15 on play.com free delivery
great little gadgets March 14, 2010 Pippa (UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
i was first aware of these a few years ago when a friend gave one to a keen eco friend, such a simple idea yet it works so well. i was then given one and have recently bought this twilight one for a friend who is a big fan of pink. it has been admired and adored by all. take it as it comes, pop it by the window and yes the brightness of the light will depend on how much sun there has been during the day. in the summer they just go on for hours and have provided a good source of light for many evenings of bbqs and other outdoor night time entertainment. in the winter obviously not as great but they do still work, you can switch the light off and it still charges up but doesn't use any of the charge so after a while it will be brighter again, even take the battery out and charge it up if your really keen. the other great thing is the automatic switch on when the sun goes down, you don't even have to think about it. would definately recommend these sun jars (i have the original sun jar, and have experienced the pink/twilight jar) so can't comment on the blue moon light necessarily but i'm sure they are just as good. was a little worried the pink might be a bit of a bright pink but its actually fairly subtle and toned down whilst still being a great little light source.

The sun or moon jar will recharge fully if you turn it off whilst it is recharging. There is a little button inside the lid to do this. That worked for ours anyway and I thought it was broken for ages before we discovered that.
Sun Jar for All Year Use - in or out February 27, 2009 Alessi Lover (Knightley UK) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
I recently got one of these as a present, in all honesty I thought it was going to be the bright sunny glow one I had seen on this website, but it wasn't.
Not that I am complaining, this one looks pure white during the day, quite a funky looking thing in its own right. After it being charged from the sunlight (left mine on the windowsill for half a day, and the window does get a lot of natural light). I was left with a lovely glowing jar. It really does work, a better alternative to candle light and safer too especially if you have young children in the house.
I also use mine as a nightlite, placed in the dark hallway if our youngest gets up he can see where the stairs are.
Planning on using mine in the summer months in the garden as I think it will look really effective especially when dining outside. Great for taking on picnics or concerts for when it goes dusk. I am so pleased that I might get more for placing on the steps in the garden as they are waterproof and look quite trendy for any garden.
Our son has already had the idea of using it for going round on Halloween.
A novel present for anyone and it doesn't need any electricity great for ecolovers.
Sunjar August 6, 2010 Miss G Kirby 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I am delighted with my sunjars which provide a great ambient light on a summer's evening. The first time I used the jars, I did have to charge up the battery in a battery charger, but I put this down to the batteries being flat from being in a dark box for so long. Most companies don't even bother supplying batteries with products so I was just pleased they were included.
